Webinar: 'Experiences of the elderly during the pandemic: the need for a change in the social-health model'

EAPN-ES will organize this webinar on April 15th to address the consequences that the crisis caused by the pandemic generated among the elderly

Next Thursday, April 15th, EAPN Spain organizes the webinar: "Experiences of the elderly during the pandemic: the need for a change in the social-health model", from 9:30hrs to 14:30hrs (GMT +01:00).

The elderly has been one of the population groups most affected by the emergency caused by Covid-19 pandemic. The situations of isolation and abandonment have been joined by the health crisis, which has affected directly this population group, with dramatic consequences in many cases.

In this context, EAPN-ES will organize on April 15th the webinar: "Experiences of elderly during the pandemic: the need for a change in the social-health model".

The webinar aims to address the consequences that the crisis caused by the pandemic generated among the elderly. It aims to find possible solutions to prevent situations like the ones experienced during de pandemic.

The main objectives of the webinar are:

  • Analyze the impact of the pandemic on the elderly in the European Union and Spain. Expanding knowledge of the European debate on ageing and the policies proposed by the European Commission, which prioritize demographics on the EU's political agenda.
  • Discuss the characteristics of the social health care systems of the elderly and, in this context, inquire about the situations experienced during the pandemic in different Spanish regions.
  • Discuss the experience of care for the elderly by social organizations and social services during the pandemic.
  • Deepen the future of long-term care and respect for the human rights of the elderly in Spain.

* Interpretation service (Spanish/English) will be provided from 9:30h to 11:30h.
